A few weeks ago, I was entering the ramp onto the freeway when my car just died. It was in gear so I just let out the clutch and it started up just fine. This happened twice before. Anybody know what problem is?
the ignition recall was supposed to fix a problem simliar to this. was your car part of the recall? (it sounds exactly like the problem they were trying to fix..)
i think its most definatly worth the trouble. imagine if theres something on the freeway that you need to avoid, but your car shuts off, and there goes your power steering too....get it fixed
The should replace the part regardless of what else you have. It's a recall, and they are obligated to fix the problem. The dealer may advise you that your "X" modification may cause problems. Tell them politely (or not) to stick it. Anytime I came in for recalls or warranty work they used to tell me that this, that, or the other thing could cause my problems, etc. If you have been running fine up til now, then chances are it's your ignition recall.
Get it taken care of ASAP. What happens if you stall in fast H-town traffic? You could easily be rearended and we don't want to see that happen. Get it fixed.
They will still fix it under warranty no matter what mods you have with the exception of an aftermarket alarm. They only thing they do is replace the actual switch on the steering wheel stalk. They put your key tumbler into a new switch and send you on your way.
Wow, you are the only person I have ever heard of who had this problem. One person has a bad ignition switch and Honda recalls every car. 10,000 people have transmission problems and they still wont include 97-99 manual trannys!!!

Nope, car is off the road for the winter. I'm in no big hurry.

actually, if you search, theres been more than one occurances of this...i just wish it doesn't happen to me i don't like having my car just turn off =(
get the ignition thing fixed, sounds like recall symptoms. Your ignition could stop running in a really bad location, take the time to change it. Im sure they will fix if even tho you have the MSD ignition. I mean its recalled even without aftermarket mods. Take care of it

I took me a little over an hour. There is one screw that holds the ignition switch in that is a real pain in the ass to get out, but overall it was very easy to replace. The screw is in a real tight area. I had a screwdriver that had a 90° bend to it that I was able to work in there. Not sure if there was an easier way, but it was 10pm and I needed the car the next day. I did this before the recall came out and had Honda reimburse me for the part.
Get it fixed since this is a real safety issue. I had a semi right behind me on the highway when the ignition cut out. Luckily he was far enough back that he could slow down while I refired the ignition.
