Can you just take off the ATTS unit?

I was wondering, for a Prelude SH, is it possible to just take off the ATTS Unit??? or is it major surgery???

Or how about installing the SH Motor into a EK Civic with the ATTS Unit would that work???

there are a few people that have done it. Problem is that you need the base tranny. The type sh tranny won't work w/o the atts unit, i'm almost positive.

After obtaining the base tranny, there still needs to be some fabrication cuz the bell housings are shaped differently, and there needs to be hole drilled for the half-shalft for the driver side in place of the atts unit. I dunno if type - sh axles will work or not.. so you might hafta swap axles as well.

As for the whole h22a4 w/ atts in a civic hb, i have NO idea. It probably would be a lot of work, and maybe even cuttin or altering the firewall to get it to fit in, then you would hafta find some crazy axle combination to work as well.

Sorry if this all bursts your bubble.

oh no problem, here is the situation...

I have a complete engine/tranny/everything from a 2000 Prelude SH, I want to swap this whole setup into my 97 Civic H/B...
but what I want to know is if I can remove the ATTS from this setup? or even if I can keep the ATTS and make it work with the Civic!!!

To make it work for the Civic, you're going to need all of the wiring, harnesses, sensors, and computer. Having the ATTS unit alone isn't going to cut it. You also have to use an SH ECU.

Do you know if the steering angle sensor will fit on the Civic steering column?

I dunno about that...I'd have to check with my mechanic, but I just got off the phone with him, and he suggested that I either sell this tranny, and swap it for a base or JDM tranny...

I don't think it is worth the hastle/time/money for me to try and get the ATTS Unit to work on the Civic...

I have heard conflicting stories about the base tranny on an SH. A friend of mine with an SH bought a base tranny and said that the tranny would not bolt up to the block.

A person who used to be on this board claimed to have a base tranny on his SH, but said that an adapter had to be machined to bolt the intermediate shaft to the block.

Since you have the engine out of the car (right?), I would say, try to bolt a base tranny up. Keep in mind you're going to have to deal with the intermediate shaft, though. The stock oil cooler will have to be changed as well, although you could still change the oil like you do on an SH, but it's a PITA.

Yeah that's pretty much what I heard, because my mechanic told me that I will have to change some shaft or something like that...but he said the the motors are the same, and that the base tranny or even the JDM tranny would bolt right up!

anyone wanna trade a SH tranny for a Base or JDM tranny???

The blocks actually have different part numbers IIRC. I can look it up tonight. I have a parts manual for 97-99 Preludes at home.

there are actually quite a few people running around this board w/ the base tranny on a type sh... try and find out who they are, and wut all it took.

Actually, the guy selling the type sh tranny w/ atts unit "accord" something or other, put the type sh engine in his accord, and had a base tranny bolted to it some how.

I don't even know how much I would sell it for, but the problem is that I am in Canada, so shipping because of the weight will have to be by truck (still reasonable for shipping costs), the Tranny only has like 30000kms (so ~ 18500 miles)

Let me know how much you are willing to pay!

hmm, well actually i have no clue as to pricing for trannies....in the parts classified there was one for 500, anyone know a good price for a tranny? WBB6 the time for shipping wouldn't matter to me if it was a good price, i just want my car running good again.
