can a paint shop make a spray paint color coded to our cars paint?

i heard that paint/body shops can get ur paint code, mix up a perfect match to your cars color, and then instead of just putting it in a bottle for touch up paint, they can put it in some kind of spray can for only about $15? is this true? anyone know if its an actual aerosole spray can?

if so, i just might do this and try testing it on plastics and if that works well to match the body, i might try spraying my stock black plastic rear skirts and then clear coat it myself.

yeah, masamune's white integra LS had unpainted side moldings, he went out to a paint shop and they put it in a can for him. we did the painting on his driveway. Need to prep it by sanding it down and then spraying paint adhesive before spraying light coats of paint, then sprayed on clear coat

The first side came out ****ty as it has some cracks in it due to overspraying it between coats. The other side looks perfect. If you do this, make sure you sand it down clean, and use LIGHT coats

the color matched amazingly well. Matching white isn't the easiest as most body shops would tell you.

Before you run out and get the paint mixed. . .
I have found a website that sells OEM Honda colors in a can, and they can even mix in an additive for areas like bumpers and side skirts which prevents cracking on those areas that bend or flex more than sheet metal. . .the only problem is that I'm at work and I can't remember the name of the site. I'll post again when I get home with the name of the site. I would suggest doing this before going out and getting it mixed. I found it to be less of a hassle. Oh yeah, they also sell the primer and clear coat in a can as well. Good luck.

Try this site. http://www.paintscratch.com They make spray cans and touch up bottles to custom order and ship quickly. I found out the hard way about scratch repair. I have now taken an oath to NEVER try and fix a scratch myself. They make great matching paint. Too bad I am not able to use it right. Good luck, Diane

Paintscratch also has additives for flexible areas and the primer and clear too. Their site has a lot of good info on application tips. Even if you find the paint elsewhere, it is still a good reference. Good luck and have fun, Diane
