Just wondering if anyone had cam gears and still running stock camshafts? I have I/H/E, vafc, pulleys, msd, and was thinking of getting some cam gears, but I dont want to replace the valvetrain,(inner, outer springs, retainers) just to run stage 2 or higher camshafts. If tuned correctly can we see any hp gainswith just camgears? I know that by adjusting your simply shifting the power curve, but are you creating usable hp?
ok here it is everyone:
1st attempt: +2 intake -1 exhaust
- too much air in head, would stall at idle...
2nd attempt: +1 intake -1 exhaust
- felt big difference, vtec sounded a lot more aggressive, a little more torquey in each gear, but one problem - car would stall occasionally at idle after throttle being opened...
3rd attempt: 0 intake -1 exhaust
- not as good as 2nd, but still noticable, car doesn't stall anymore
overall i believe it's a good mod... but it'll be a lot better with cam shafts...

I just though i would mention this I have AEM Cam gears
Well the car runs great and I have them set at +4 on the intake side and +1 on the exhaust... now i know this differs from the setting Chris used in his N/A tune up but my mecahnic who happens to tune hondas said this would be a good setting... and not to worry about the +4 setting on the intake side... Suffice to say the car makes great power now and runs alot smoother...
I however was going to ask what the long term affects of advancing/retarding the cams could be on the engine life/maintainence... I also advanced my ignition timing to 19 degress but you have to run premium fuel..I always do anyways

You have a 4th gen, right? Or did you do a OBDI conversion? On our OBDII 5th gen Prelude, we cannot advance ignition timing. The computer will adjust itself back to factory setting.
