brake job done

i just got everything done and changed over... then washed (not like it does much good, but eh)

swapped my Si brakes to VTEC rotors and calipers and had the calipers powdercoated.

and yes i know my wheel is bent, but it still holds air, and thats all that matters right now.

thanks everyone. i only did the fronts for now... it drives fine, but the pedal is a little low, so i'll have to fix that tomorrow.

i'll be changing out the rear rotor and maybe pads (depending on how much pad is left) in a few weeks.

Get some malet and start hitting on your rims man, me and my friend did this to his delsol it we were able to make it less noticable. Careful thou you might crack the rims instead so take it slow.

yeah holes are a bad thing lol

Your taking away surface area for your brakes to use, it also weakens the rotors strength. Very few cars have cross-drilled rotors that are done properly most are just for looks, but hinder performance. I do like slotted rotors though, because they still have a nice performance look and do not give you risky rotors. Plus it's supposed to allow gases to escape while you brake hard.

i got my calipers powder coated at a local powder coating shop here in Costa Mesa. total was $60 for both (once i had them all taken apart), plus ~$20 for both caliper rebuild kits, and $120 for the rotors (from someone here on PO)

these are brembo's and as of ~5+ years ago, they do not drill their rotors anymore... they are all molded, so the misconception of quality x-drilled rotors being weaker is a myth. if they were weaker, do you think MBZ AMG cars would have them???

If you saw I said "most", most benz's, porshe's, etc's brake rotors are engineered differently. Brembo's are good for their drilled and slotted, but I was refering to them in general. Like the autozone drilled and slotteds. It is still a fact that slots and holes decrease surface area for the pad to touch, but the slots help the gases escape. I'm pretty sure the drilling is for cooling purposes, but could also serve as a way for gas/water (in wet driving) to escape.
