black gunk in intake port

Sup Y'all,

So I took off my IM and found the black gunk in one of the intake ports of the head... Just wondering what would cause this..

I cant tell if that oil or carbon deposits, either way I think its normal.

Normal. It's a combination of oil coming in through the PCV and carbon due to the EGR and reversion from the chamber on the exhaust stroke.

A PCV catch can will help some, you can search the board for more info.
