Ouch, don't start it up again!

Guess you're going to have it torn down to find out what the damage is.

Sorry to hear it and I hope it doesn't turn out too bad.

That can happen to the best of us. One thing you need to do though is get that clutch right back in if you know you missed the gear. I've mis-shifted before but as long as you get the clutch in and lay off the gas you stand a much better chance at not doing any damage.

let me guess it was on the 3 to 4 shift and you mishifted back into 2nd.. yeah it happens alot on ludes.. stop holding the stick shift like your dick and place the shifter in you PALM you know like how you had is when you are doing a pull up.. do not hold the stick like you did back when you usta play street fighter 2 at the acarde.. this end your misshifting adnventures..

no no no no no...

i let the clutch out before it was in the gear...so it was in neutral when i stomped on the gas again. it was 3rd to 4th too. i thought we had a rev limiter that was supposed to stop that from happening?

i think i went to around 9500 or 10K rpm.

how did u let the rmps get that high before you noticed you missed? hell, i've pulled my shift knob off going into second and bounced the needle off redline and had to find the stick under the boot and put it into second, while i was rolling up a hill...u must have really stomped on the pedal...

There is a limiter to stop that happening. You can rev it all day in neutral and it won't do jack.

You went into second man - it's the only way that would happen. 10,000 sounds about right for a redline downshift from 3rd.

have you guys also noticed that at times i have tried to shift from 3rd to 4th and somtimes it bounces back from going in all the way.. thats a *****.. but yeah the REV limiter should stop it from over reving still.. dude... unless you hit the limiter over and over..

i didn't go in though...after i had missed...the shifter shot to the center neutral position...i am 99.9999% sure i was in neutral when it happened. I also didn't even touch the rev limiter...i've hit it in gear, but never out of gear.

i've done that to my prelude, redline 3rd tried to shift to 4th, but went into 2nd, my car started to skid, I got scared, that was the 2nd week i had my car...first time stick driver too. That really sucked, but I've had my car for a while now....no damage from that I guess.

that is what happened to me too. but i kept thinking that it was in my head (how can it throw itself out of 2nd).

anyways, my rpms shot up to the end of the dial (possibly hitting 9k rpm).

the strangest thing is that a compression test showed no loss of compression.
