Bearing HELP!!!! HELP!!! HELP!!!

OK IM LOST

this is my first time rebuilding a bottom end so excuse me if this sounds stupid to someone else but im left a little confused...

im trying to figure out what main bearings i need, i followed the helms manual and the "Crankshaft Bore Code" stamped on the block is 32334

then the "Main Journal Code" is 5 for main one, 5 for main two, 4 for main three, 5 for main four , and 6 for main five. (55456)

so now to my understanding im supposed to use these two sets of numbers on the chart in the manual (section 7-9) and i then should get what "color" bearing i need for each individual main, right?

when i did it i got :

main 1 brown

main 2 green/brown

main 3 green/brown

main 4 brown

main 5 black

soo...now i would go to honda with this information and they would give me the bearings according to the colors here? and if so can someone check if i followed the chart correctly plz...

also... i did not have any bad rod bearings. can i re use them or are they something you MUST replace once taken off the crank?

thanks for any help, MUCH appreciated

To get it out of the way, you can reuse old bearings if the journals and bearings are absolutely sure to be fine.

Secondly, about the colors and numbers, I don't know all of that code. But something doesn't sound right, you need to take into consideration that your parts have worn and that the clearances have changed and that you must measure for the clearances FIRST, then correct the clearances using different colored bearings(which change the clearance) or by machining parts.

Understand that your motor is not unworn from the factory, but those codes you read were stamped when the car cam from the factory, which means those codes are basically obsolete.

It's good to know them, but they aren't telling you the whole story, you need to get a micrometer and verify the total bearing clearances of all the mains, THEN correct as needed to achieve the factory tolerance specified by honda.

Good luck.

EDIT: Wow, just saw this was posted a couple weeks back, sorry for the late reply!
