BB1, BB2, BB4 - which one do I have?

Ok, I'm pretty sure 5th gens are BB6

I THOUGHT all 4th gens are BB1's, but someone refered to theirs as a BB4 earlier.

mine is a '94 VTEC. BB1? yes? No?

does anyone know the BB___ naming convention, and what it means?

BB1 Uk spec?

BB4 is the 2.0 uk spec but with the VTEC engine? i.e no 4ws

I think all BB1's are 4ws whereas all BB4's are not.

...but then I could be wrong...

Well I did say i could be wrong

All I know is that ive got two BB4's (one for road use one breaking for spares)
And neither of them have 4/w/s and both are JDM imports.

The Prelude I drive is a 1993 vtec BB4 with no 4ws, no sunroof, no cruise, no leather, in fact all its got is a/c and the Vtec.

The Prelude I have breaking for spares is a BB4 also but has sunroof and cruise but no 4/ws

oops...

just noticed your in texas, usa.

the JDM lude title fooled me, i thought u had a JDM lude so u must be from the uk.

..so anything ive just said probably didnt help.

Why dont you just look at the chassis number on your car?

Ive just looked on mine and its just above the headlight on the passenger side (drivers side for u)

theres a small 1"1/4 x 2.5" plate (black) with some chassis numbers stamped on.
The start of the number is the bit u are lookin for on mine its
BB4 ******

hope that helps.

here you go boys:

BB1: 4th Gen VTEC
BB2: 4th Gen Si
Pretty sure BB4 is the S.

Look at the VIN number, it'll say BB something on it.
Mine is BB2.

For North America - 4th Gens:

BA8 Prelude 2.2 liter
BB2 Prelude 2.3 liter
BB1 Prelude 2.2 liter

5th Gens:

BB6 Prelude 2.2 liter

Outside of North America... have to do some more research...

if anyone is wondering what these letter/number combos mean, they are part of the VIN number and designate what trim level.
