Bad wheel bearing?

Ok so a month ago I hit a rather large pothole and remember hearing a loud unusual noise while hitting said pothole on the front driver side. I didn't think much of it until I noticed a few days ago I started hearing odd noises coming from the driver side and noticed an odd wear pattern on the outer edge of my rotor and unusually bad tire wear on the inside tire. I pulled the tire and...yep...the hub is loosy goosey.

Now my question is this all symptomatic of a dead wheel bearing?

Should I go and replace both sides while I'm at it?

Will my cv joint be compromised from a month of abuse?

And I can't get it fixed till mid next week and I've read that the hub can separate completely and that I could die? True or false?

Thanks for the help!

Well, I can shed a little light on this, cuz Ive had to replace 2 bearings so far and am about to replace a 3rd.

It definitely sounds like a bad bearing. The way I could always tell is if you can jack up the car and wiggle the wheel without loosening the lugs. As for your CV joint, I doubt it will mess it up, unless it's REALLY bad. I dont see a reason you should replace both sides if only one is messed up, but it couldnt hurt if youve got the money. And as for your wheel falling off, that could only be in a worst case scenario. Before I knew what was wrong, I rode around with a bad bearing for about 4 months and all I had was noise and bad rear tire wear. But when the guy at the tire shop showed me what was wrong, he wiggled the rear wheel and that thing was LOOSE. My tip is if you are sure thats whats wrong with it, just replace it asap and hopefully any other problems can be avoided.
