so far i have broken TWO impact grade breaker bars and one impact grade rachet
one breaker bar got sideways and then....yeah twisted and broke, but one just snapped in half. they are craftsman breaker bars..... i swapped the first one out for a new one. got home and then broke the second one.
anny suggestions on how to get my axle nut off? i may call a shop around here to see if they can just blast it with their air rachet and loosen it enough to where i can get it.
1/2" breaker bars and extensions aren't going to cut it. No matter the brand.
I use a 3 1/2 ft. Snap On 3/4" drive breaker bar with a 3/4" to 1/2" adapter with a 36mm Craftsman "regular" socket. Even with 3.5 ft. of leverage, I usually have to use my entire body weight and then some to get the nut to break loose. That's a good 600+ ft*lbs of torque.
Note that I have twisted 2 or 3 of these 3/4" to 1/2" adapters in half. I don't have a source for Snap On parts where I can order a 3/4" drive 36mm socket.

What is an "impact grade" breaker bar and rachet? I mean, you arn't applying any impact or impulse when using one, unless you are hitting the end with a hammer ( just constant pressure).

well, by impact grade, i meant that the handle was the silver steel and the little square part that went into the socket was black and appeared the same as the impact stuff i have
