ATX Remaned Engines / Transmissions

These folks indicate that they have rebuilt Honda 4th gen and 5th gen automatic transmissions.

Here is the guy's information:

"Hi,

This is Ira Lapufsky from ATK Engines. I have a reman. transmission with a 3yr/75,000 mile warranty. for $1979.00 and your old trans. It would take 3-5 days to receive our reman trans. I can also help you with a repair shop to install the trans. Please use this e-mail address to respond. We are receiving new company computers and I will experience down time for a few days.

My cell 714-813-4323
Voice mail 1-800-421-3746 X 584

Thank you for your e-mail,
Ira Lapufsky
ATK Engines"

Ahhh.... NO, NO YOU CAN'T.

$2000 for a warrantied-rebuilt 5th Gen SS Auto is a REALLY good deal.

Honda charges $4000.00...

...and if you're trying to tell me that you'd go out and purchase one from someone who is swapping, then you'd be wasting you money. (Since there is a reason they are swapping and it's generally mechanical.)

Lee Myles, AMOCO, etc... can't rebuild the 5th gen trannies to save their lives. Most of the time they "rebuild" them and they fail within weeks.

Gerhard that may be because Honda Autos are so much different from most other car manufacturers. Honda Autos are actually built much like a manual transmission and have either 2 or 3 shafts with gears on them. The gears freewheel on bearings until a drum engages them when they are needed for a certain gear. They seem to me to be a lot more complex than some auto trannies like the THM350 from GM, I just got out of auto trannies class so its all fresh heh.

That I believe... in fact I know the first Honda trannies were based on their manual units!

I actually just bought a new motor and tranny from them for my nissan like 2 months ago. They have a good deal and a really good warranty. They took a few extra days than i wanted to to ship it, but there was alot of snow beteween them and me and they ship ground. I will say that their stuff is really bare! You may have to pic up some other nick nacks above what you plan on
