Anyone have experience with the Nitto 555R Drag Radials? - Honda Prelude Forum

Good??? Bad??? How do they compare to a "regular" Mickey Thompson slick? I'm seriously thinking about getting slicks for this year but I need ones that are DOT approved for the local track. Are the Nittos my best choice?

Also, does anyone know where to get the best price on them? Thanks.....

the bfgoodrich drag radials are pretty sweet.

they also come in 205/50 instead of 45 series like nitto.

i use them for my hybrid accord at the track.

actually..i got the nito 555Rs..I'm totally satisfied with them to. they shaved off .2 on my quarter mile, and that was my first time using them without smoking them up..so i know for sure theres more potential. they're $99 a tire @ americas tire co

I need to invest in a set!!

First I need to find some cheap 94-96 Si wheels to mount them on.

Best on my Toyos has been a 2.15.

Think I could hit 1.9's with the dr's.

If you are looking for something for autocross use, as opposed to drag use, check out the Yokohama AVS Intermediates. They are excellent driving tires, and super sticky for auto-x too.

My brother does a lot of auto-x in PA and he swears he is getting them for his next set of tires for those rims. You can get them for a really good price at Tire Rack and other discounters too. Just a thought fro thers who may be looking for something in the auto-x line....

Those works alot better after you light them up. I talked to a guy who lives here with a 2001 Supercharged Mustang GT plus a **** load of other mods who has the NT555Rs on his stang and he saids that its not that good until you really warm them up. Then after that they stick really well. His stang pulls low 12s with those on. Pretty sweet tires..........If you smoke them up before you stage.....you'll hit a quicker 60ft.

and probably bring you down to low 14s!!! Cant complain there

quickprelude : I wouldn't get them for Auto-X if thats what you'll be doing. I too would go with the AVS. Those are really nice tires. The NT555R won't really do well in Auto-X because they shine when they are running hot. BTW......Sweet looking Prelude!!!

Thanks for the compliment! I plan on using them for drag racing only. I am squirting the funny gas this year and I need something that will get me hooked up. I'd like to get a set of Mickey Thompson ETs, but at our local track, they only allow DOT approved slicks. The only ones I've seen that are in that class, and in our size, is the Nitto 555R's. Can anyone compare the Nittos to te BFG's that BGod was talking about?

I had a set on my stock rims. They make a huge difference on the street. I could launch hard around 5000 and still hook up. They made a small difference at the track but I didn't really heat them up. Later.

They NT555R are pretty good tires...they are great for Drag racing...I can launch pretty high on those and they grab well...They perform well in terms of handling too...

Street and track are really different, at least here anyways. I hook up way better on the street. Differnt surfaces I guess??? I would launch between 4500-5000 on the bottle on the street and hook up. At the track, forget about it. I would have to launch at like 3500. They made a difference both places, just more noticible on the street. Does BFG make DRs in the right sizes for a lude?

i know man! i can't find any drag radial with a good size for a 16!!! What is the benefit of going to a smaller wheel?
