1.) If you do a search on the compustar alarm, you'll find some good information...even some comparisons. I just did the same search just the other week

2.) These JDM mirrors you are waiting for, are they the folding mirrors? If so, please hook me up with the info!

i'm using Alpine, i like it. the only thing is the hood pin sometimes not work(may be wires loose something). i'm using the one call 8028.
also, the advantage is they use milti transmission radio. i know Clifford and computstart those is one code one. have u watch gone in 60 secs. just like them, they use some tool to check out your frequency to unlock you car to make the alarm sleep. but alpine they use milti way to avoid this problem. everytime u arm the alarm. they will come with new code. i mean if u don't want with remote starter. go with alarm won't be wrong. don't go with Viper and clifford, they a all made in china and taiwan now. cheap component. my bro use viper and the shocks sensor sometime is too senstive and sometime is not work(damn). we just find after he got hit and run. an the alarm didnt' kick in. freaking dump alarm. and clifford keep having electronic problem(that's all i heard from a installation shop, i mean average). hope this help.......

i can attest to the apline 8028 too, it's a good alarm system. i had it wired up with a trunk and hood sensor, external proximity sensor (internal comes with the alarm), and a trunk release. i'm not sure about the automatic windows up/down but i'm sure it could be done. good luck

The trunk release thing is not a problem. You have two options. The first and the best is to get an Accord power trunk latch. I think the part number for it is: 08E49S84100H (do a search under jkoc to verify). I am gonna hook this up sometime soon. But apparently it does work. For like $50 for the part, why not? The other option is to have your installer hook up a generic solonoid to your trunk latch. This part is relatively cheap. The only downside is that it is pretty visible under the trunk lid. Either way, they both do the trick. Keep in mind that having a spoiler will make the lid heavier and thus a little harder to pop up.

Secondly, to have your windows and sunroof controlled by your remote, may cause a problem...especially if you are still under your factory warranty. The reason for this is that a new module to control each window will have to be used. (I forgot what my installer told me but he didn't recommend it cause I am still under warranty) He said something along the lines that something will have to be cut or replaced? blah, blah, blah, I'm sure someone is bound to give the proper answer...either or, the jist of this second point is that if you are still under warranty, don't do it unless you want to void it.

Thirdly, arm/disarm is pretty basic.

Hope this helps.

The thing to remember when buying an alarm is this, "function before form" or "form before function"? In other words, do you want an alarm to protect your ride, or an alarm you can play with? I'm not dissing the compustar alarm or anything (it is a good alarm as many owners will attest), I'm just saying for the same price you'll be paying for a compustar alarm, you can get a pretty decked out alarm (with motion and tilt sensors, power trunk, shock sensors, blah, blah, blah, the works) and still have some change...at least that's the way it is up here in BC. The only benefit I can see with the compustar (IMO), is its pager and remote start...oh and the LCD remote itself.

happy hunting

The advantage of the CompuStar is simply that no one gives a rats ass about your car being broken into. That's the way it is in BC. Yeah a noisy alarm will keep theft away from your car in the day, but at 3 in the morning in an underground - doesn't do squat. Trust me, there is no worse feeling than reconnecting your battery and having your alarm come back on and wondering just what you spent hundreds of dollars on.

a good thing to note, is that this alarm will have no use during the night. I park my car in a covered garage. There is no way for a thief to get in there. It is only for when my car is parked someplace.

well, the purpose for alarm to prevent the thief. and obviously, computstar is with a very good feature. and Alpine have their good feature that computstar don't come with. i think the best way to prevent thief is don't buy a nice car(kidding). just watch where u park. it's very very very important, especially while u watch movie. good lluck for everyone.......

i don't drive my car to cinema usually. it's a litle hints for everyone.
