After 5 miles new timing belt ripped apart the same as the old one

My 1988 Prelude 2.0 was running perfect when the timing belt was ripped in half. My mechanic said it had oil on it so it just failed at that spot. The mechanic replaced the belt and all the bent valves. Along with the water pump. Again the car was running smooth. I drove it approximately 5 miles and the new belt was ripped apart again in the exact same way. Ofcoarse all the valves are wiped out again. I spent more money on the repair than I should have on a 88 car. I surely don't want to do it again without knowing what is going wrong. The mechanic has no idea. I guessed one of the cams is freezing up but I'm just guessing. There's plenty of oil and they seem to move okay now. Hopefully someone has experience with this problem and can help me. Sadly the cost of the repair job took alot out of Christmas for my family. Yea I'm whining.

Well gee thanks for your informative answer. How about someone with a mecanical reason for the timing belts to break. I'm stuck and buying another ride now is not an option. The mecanic is redoing the job for the $900.00 I already paid.

Sorry I thought the repair would cost more than that...could it be the T-belt tensioner?
