also, snoopy_cool. TAPPAUTO in ottawa is the ONLY garage with a dynamometer here. and their mechanics are wicked awesome too.
Chris Tapp, is a honda enthusiast and has done a LOT of engine work before so i sorta trust him right now. his labour cost is a lil more than other places but its worth it i guess.
today was pretty hot ... 30Celcius (87.8F) and very humid so that will affect the dynos -- however, i guess the relative numbers are what matters (dynos were done on the same day (june 26/2001) before and after install.
DYNO baseline and after install (same day):
around a 4hp gain thru-out the entire band and a 1ft-lb torque gain.
i wish the graphs had finer granularity! also note that my car is fairly new so the engine hasnt broken in 100% (< 5000km)
Actual driving experience? well yeah, i could definitely feel the car lighter and more responsive to the throttle. i paid $130US for these pulleys so i think it was money well spent.

Wow - how come you're hitting peak power at such a high rpm? 7500 rpm is pretty high... I have bolt-ons and some other stuff, and I'm only hitting peak power at 6900 or so.
Originally posted by jkoc yeah i thought that was WEIRD too because my other dyno back in june 2 2001, my peak power was at 7250rpm.
i dont get it...
Yeah, me neither. If I'm hitting peak at 6900 and you're hitting it at 7500, that's a 600 rpm range of fluctuation. Hmmm... I don't think that Honda is that inconsistent. Maybe it's the different dynos. That's weird though - I didn't think dynos are that inconsistent either when it comes to measuring rpms. Who knows - maybe they are? Another weird thing is that I'm making 13 more whp, but 20 lb/ft more torque than your motor - I'm confused.

Thanks to your information, I now have much more confidence in the accuracy of my a$$. My butt-dyno readings have much more credence now that you have confirmed them. This means that the AEM CAI probably increases hp by anywhere from 5-12 hp, depending upon the weather. You can take that to the bank. My a$$ don't lie.
And don't worry about the heat and humidity today, because the computer-dyno is supposed to take all of that into consideration. Unfortunately, my a$$ isn't high-tech enough to make those very scientific calculations. But I'm working on it.
(Please, nobody suggest that I stick a thermometer in there prior to taking a reading.)
anyone know if UR pulleis will be making the same HP or more. I'm talking about just the two pullies notcounting the crank.i know if we count the crank it i'll be diferent story.
