Accord Tranny Bolted to a H22A Engine.

Hello-

I was looking around in the search, but I was unable to locate an answer. I need to know if I could use an accord transmission (manual or automatic) on a H22A from a Prelude? Please let me know if this just bolt right up or what is needed to do this if it is possible.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel.

I believe so. I know that Accord people swap H22's in and keep the stock tranny. I'm not sure if it will use the H22 halfshafts, or if you will need Accord ones.

But the actual transmission will bolt up though? That is mainly what I am concerned with at this time.

good point, which year accord does the tranny come from? I know some of the 4th gen accords come with an F22 so they will bolt to the H22.

Looking to bolt up tranny from 92-97 4 cylinder accords. Looking to bolt these onto 92-96 H22A from Prelude. What do you think?

Daniel.

Almost all the accords use either a f22* or well i guess im guessing here (F23*) because there all Single cam and some with vtec. I know the F22's share an identical block to a H22 and the transmissions. I would open my fat mouth and say that the halfshaft is identical but, since the Wheelbase is different i cant really say.

suncoastcustoms, remember that the Accord gearing is matched with an engine that has lower Revs so the gears are much longer and you will lose alot of HP through the tranny. But on the bright side you should have some amazing top speed.

All F and H series trannies are interchangeable. The only problem of course would be the tall gearing, say goodbye to staying in VTEC on your shifts.

When changing the engines of a prelude to an accord whats the best year accord to use, also do you haft to do a ecu swap? and what do you use for motor mounts same stock or do you upgrade while your there?

You'd be stupid to not to an ECU swap, it would make the wiring much easier and would provide a better base for proper a/f mapping.

For years, search the web. There's tons of info out there. IIRC on the two gens prior to the new one it's a straight drop-in. Before that, it required mounts and some other stuff.

I have never seen the 2.3 vtec Accord engine. I just figured it was a F series engine and i dont see why honda would make a new Block when they got a perfectly good design they use in all 2.2 and 2.3 engines i have seen. But i cannot speak from experience so i would like to know the facts if someone knows.
