205's or 215's ???.......

I'm either getting 205/45/17 or 215/40/17 yoko paradas....

I need to know if there is a big difference in performance between these two sizes.

My rims have a very low offset, which is why I'm considering the 205's.

On my 4th Gen I have 205/40/17 Dunlops. I have a 2" Neuspeed drop in front and back. I'm not sure what it would look like on a 5th Gen.

I have 205/40/17. 1.5 drop. No rubbing. Looks great.

Looks good checkmate58. Mine looks pretty close to that, I only scrub alot when I put my factory wheels back on. I only do that during the winter months.

i dont know if its the tires i got, the inflation, or the size.. but my paradas... SUCK on turns. my car kinda rocks on turns... it feels like my wheels are slipping or that i'm running on flats, because my car swings out as if there isn't enough air in the tires. in reality, i think its that i should have gotten 205 instead of 215s because i think that extra width isn't doing well with my 7 in. wide wheels.

215. I use 215/40/17 Paradas on my 17x7.5's.

As ODL stated....what's the offset?

40mm offset.....I know everyone says it'll rub, but I know of someone with 17x7 40mm offset, 215/40/17 and 2" drop....no rubbing. Im only lowered 1.5" so I'm sure it'll be safe.

So is there a difference in performance? (205 or 215)

OK listen.........back when I was buying rims I asked questions like crazy and this was one of them. In my search for an answer I posted about it and emailed people from the board that I knew had 17's as well as people from HondaPrelude.com. You know what I found? Some people with the exact same setup as your friend rubbed and some did not. I'm NO EXPERT on this but in your case with a 40mm offset I would go with the 205 tire in an effort to be safer.

205 vs 215
215 is going to be better for performance.

I had this same feeling about a week ago... I put my car on a rack to see what was going on and I discovered that my rear bearing was bad... i'm not saying that this is what is wrong, but you may want to check it...

Didn't you just get new rims & tires? You know those little nobby things on tires to show they're new? That could be what's causing ur thing...give them a couple more miles...once tires break in they get much much grippier...

when i get matt's wheels 17x7 i'm going to get 205/40 to be safe instead of 215. Since checkmate58 has the same springs/drop as me, i should be fine with 205 as well.

i'm basically over it. If the rear is gonna be lower then the front then that's how it's going to be. If scraping becomes a bigger problem than it already is then i'll think about H&R

My sister has H&R's on her prelude. They ride a little more stiffer then the RS*R springs but okay drop. Now that the springs have settled in, it's about a 1.4 inch drop. I'll take pictures of her car later and post.
