1985 Prelude idling strangely at start

I've got an '85 Prelude (automatic, carburated) that idles really strange when the car is first started. I give a small pump of gas and start the car, for about 5 seconds the car starts right up and gets to about 1.5k RPM. Then the RPMs drop down real low and the car acts like it's going to stall. When this happens I have to press the gas or else it will stall. But, if I give even SLIGHTLY too much gas it stalls. So, I have to keep tapping the gas just the right amount in a sort of balancing act, or else the engine stalls. After about a minute of doing this, I can let go of the gas and it idles decent (I have the idle screw at about 1.1k RPM, seems smooth there.. anything lower and I get problems with the car stalling etc..).

I also noticed if I put it in drive, the car idles really rough (and somewhat low) unless it has warmed up for about 5 minutes.

Does anyone have any advice? I'm no car expert BTW.. :-)

The carbs were replaced in the car maybe 30k miles ago and I've had a general tune-up since then and hoped that was the problem, but it still did the same thing. I might take it in again in the future and tell them to specifically find out what is causing the problem, but it's really not a major issue and don't feel like shelling out the bucks for it at the moment.
