Tokico Illumina + Tein S-Tech

I just had this combo installed and completed. Drove it today for the first time. Right away... I noticed the ride isn't even that stiff on the #5 setting.. so I don't know how track worthy these would be at all. The ride however is comfortable..

The springs drop the car between 1.3 and 1.5 inches. I think the drop is perfect. I now have 1 finger wheel gap in the rear and maybe 1 finger and a quarter up front because the higher rated springs haven't set yet. The car isn't stupid low but it's not too high either as I said.

But sadly as far as stiffness goes.. I'm worried. I have the Illumina's on setting #5 and they seem soft yet. I haven't had a chance to do any real testing though.. the dealer that did my alignment binned my mugen bumper on the lift and wrecked it... so it's kinda hanging there and spirited driving was out of the question for tonight.

Anyways.. I will follow up on this review when I get into some more testing. But for now the best I can recommend this setup for is slight improvement over OEM with a decent drop that isn't too dangerous for those of us who have less than flat roads.

The spring rates for the Tein S Tech are in the low 200's .. under 240 I know. So.. they are not stiff at all. If you wanted to make a good combo I suppose 450 rated springs would be the best way to go. I imagine the Illumina's would still hold up well with such springs.

Well I got a lengthy drive in today. 4 hours worth with a combination of both highway - good and bad - as well as some nice curvy roads and the odd twists.

I definitely felt the improvement today. MUCH less body roll and the car just plain well feels planted. The ride is still.. actually streetable even on #5 and we have pretty much the worst roads. Sometimes it was unforgiving though. I noticed there's still a lack of handling on actual corners .. but nothing you'd encounter unless you're driving a little crazy or at the track.

I'd like to follow up again when I get a rear sway bar going and my summer wheels and tires.
