Thoughts on the AEM v2

Well just installed my AEM v2 intake the other day. Installation went pretty good and really didnt run into any trouble. The instructions were pretty clear.

First impressions : Wow it pulls harder

I know ive always been the one to say a tube is a tube...and ill still back that up against aem CAI vs Ebay CAI..its jus a tube. But the double tube technology AEM has come up with in the v2 is pretty cool. The sound is also another thing. Its deeper and meaner sounding.

I was pretty surprised when i got on it for the first time. the low end felt better...it gets better...so did the high end.. It generally all around adds power..both lowend and highend. And definately dont think there lying when they claim 5-7 hp.

Now the price tag on the v2 is another thing.. my uncle got mine for 244$ shipped alot eh? But then again aem cai brand new go anywhere from 125- 175 if not more.. Is it worth the extra money? Yeah id say so if u have that extra money!

Im going to post some sound clips next week after i get my new exhaust on.

Well hope you all enjoy my review.. i may post more later on after i drive the car some more..but so far its thumbs up!!!

Steve

Sorry my engine bay is pretty dirty

Yeah I agree with you, the V2 is a very nicely built/sounding intake. I'm considering switching over to a Type S intake system though. I guess the sound kind of got to me and I just want something quieter/better midrange. I must admit, good intake though.

I love the sound of the V2. Hands down its the meanest sounding intake available. However, the price tag vs sound/performance has to be questioned.

meh...intakes are a big dillemma, the cool sounding ones are just noisemakers, and the best performing ones are too quiet IMO....so its a pick your poison and dont spend too much moeny on it lol

i do, but all you can hear (after i get started) is the intake...i think the exhaust is a lil audible in the beginning.

I went from AEM CAI with bypass to AEM V2 shortram(well, no option for CAI).

Been months since I had it. Humming sound just about 1000rpm before vtec @ WOT condition is just FREAKING SWEET.

Sometimes I want to get rid of my exhaust just so I can hear that humming sound. and obviously, it screams like a mother****** when VTEC kicks in.

Not to mention the Gunmetal color of the intake(only aftermarket intake in gunmetal color) is just beautiful. Matches great with my gunmetal prelude.

I give two thumbs up for the intake itself, however, like everyone said, Price is questionable.
