Hankook W300 Icebear snow tires

This year I bought a new set of snow tires to replace my Michelin Artic Alpins from the last few seasons. I havent had too many times out in the snow this year but from a day to day dry weather perspective they're excellent. The dry grip is nice and very predictable, I would say they stick just as well as the OEM RE92's from what I remember. They have a stiffer sidewall then the Artics and from what I can remember as quiet as the Michelins as well. In the snow they didnt seem to be better then the Artics, I just dont feel that grip I did in the past however I'm certain they're much better then an all season and they were CHEAP. I think with the free shipping from discount tire my total was under $250 including new valve stems.

Overall performance:dollar they're a great buy for someone that wants a snow tire for a mild winter.

EDIT
So in driving last night ~3-5" of snow I came to find these tires blow to get going and turning, however for some reason they stop great. I'll keep them since the price was right and the number of tough snow days we get are minimal. I'd recommend going with a better snow tire if you were thinking of getting the Hankooks.

they are basically an all season by the sidewall and outer tread, I have these on my lude right now and as far as I am concerned should not be called a snow/winter tire.

Maybe a very good all season then, I've driven on some all seasons in the past that didnt seem to work worth crap on packed snow etc... For the money they're not bad for what I need however you being in Canada I can see them falling short for your needs.

that's a pretty poor generalization. there's many places in the US that get worse winter than where I am in Canada.

the icebears just barely, barely meet my city driving needs here when the roads are maintained. I am also an extremely cautious winter driver..

i have friends that drive their winter beaters rather dangerously and I think if I drove my car like they do with these tires I'd be wrapped around a pole.

^^^ Must be something different to your tires then because I feel much more confident in mine then what you described. I also had no idea there were any sections of Canada that would have a winter more mild then we have in NJ.

i like them. i've had no problems in the snow/ice yet. they hold my front as well as my blizaks hold the rear. deffinatly worth the price i paid for them. if i paid the price i paid for my blizaks then it might have a differnt story, but for about $70 each + free shipping, they are a great tire

here in edmonton, we've had only one real snowfall and that lasted only 3-4 days at the most. other than that, its been damn nice
