Forbidden Motorsports Short Shifter

The first thing I should mention is that this shifter is based on the C's short shifter (which was the only real short shifter ever made for 4th Gen's prior to this new shifter). Some improvements have been made on the C's design though. For starter's, the shifter is .5" shorter in actual height than the stock shifter. It is also 3-way adjustable in regards to shortness of throw. You can either set the throw at a stock setting, at the C's shifter setting (40% shorter throw), or at a super short race setting (about 80% shorter throws). Adjustments are made by bolting the shift linkage to one of the three mounting holes.

From first glance you will be able to see the quality of the shifter. The welds are beefy, and the shifter has a very nice weight to it. Also, the shifter is powdercoated a very nice gunmetal color. After installing the shifter and taking some test runs all I can say is that it is truly amazing. On the middle setting shifts are about 40% shorter in throw than stock. Every shift feels very solid, and way more precise than the stock shifter.

You will have to trim some of the plastic off of the bottom of your center console so that the shifter doesn't hit, but its not that big of a deal (only took me 5 minutes using a lighter to melt the plastic).

The shifter is a complete replacement for the stock shifter, instead of the short shifters currently available from Neuspeed and DC Sports which are just adapters. As you know... adapters are just not as good as a precision made full replacement.

In closing... this shifter is one of the easiest and best mods you can do, and for $125, why not.

yes this was the best mod by far... its shorter than any other short shift kit for any other car i've ever tried (350z, civic, teg, 240sx, mr2).

very much worth the money

^^ lol. I think this was the first thing I ever bought for my car. Installation was fine, it took me a while because I work that way, and I got grease all over me. I would maybe suggest keeping a tube or tub of the necessary type of grease for the "ball assembly" (since it's out, you might as well). I mean to try the race setting. I'm comfortable with the middle setting, but didn't need to modify my boot bracket for it. Shifts still feel a little sloppy, but it's not a rod linkage system, and you can't change that. Bottom line: it felt a lot sloppier before I installed the shifter, and noticeably less after. For the price, definitely a good buy.
