Believe it or not, we are only two months away from the 2005 National Prelude Meet.
As everyone probably knows, its around a 22-hour, 1200 mile drive from our region of the country to where the meet is being held.
The original plan was to have everyone meet up in or around Philidelphia and then head out from there to St. Louis, accomplishing about 15-16 hours worth of driving on Wednesday the 1st of June. We will stay overnight somewhere in St. Louis and then head out late in the AM to Tulsa to check into the hotel and meet up with the rest of the NPM people. However, seeing as where St. Louis is located and where the route to NPM will take us, this will not work:
So as it stands, we either need to find a place to stay on the route displayed or try and do it in one shot. From Philly to Ok is 1283 miles or 19 hours and 45 minutes worth of driving. That number is probably a little inflated as we could probably do it in about 18-19 hours, however, we also have to take into account gas stops, food stops, and bathroom breaks.
As of right now, this is the list of people I know are or aren't going, those who are maybe's, and those who I'm not sure of:
Attending:
Myself / Matt (Mattsy93VTEC)
Kirill (SK Honda7)
Ryan (Cementups)
Paul + Renie (paulyg + preludechick89)
Jacky (Jaxx4k)
PreludeJTStyle
Kurt (kurtgaspar)
Not Attending:
Erik (92prelude92)
Manny (blue_bb6)
Vic (liquidxnites)
Dave (Damieone)
Maybe:
Eric (94accordsedan)
Keith (The Oreo)
Jeff (blklude98)
Rich (x29preludex)
Jeff (cowboijeff) <-- Flying?
Vicki (vickmeister) <-- Flying?
Dunno:
Michelle (lilredlude)
All you NJ people I forgot (Andy, Moshe, Manny, etc.)
So lets see who is going, who isn't, etc. I want to see what kind of caravan we're going to have to plan for.
I'd rather ride in a car and see stuff along the way than to just fly in. So... if anyone could stand me for 22 hrs, lemme know. I'll bring a ton of books to read along the way and keep quiet. I promise.

Still thinking about it . . . . I'd really like to. Dunno if I'll be able too financially, though . . . .
Do it Dave. We'd love to have your company again.
You can ride in the 'slow' caravan. My car will be burdened with the weight of 4 extra wheels/tires, spare brake parts, a jack, tools, and luggage for 2.5 (Irene likes to pack) Seeing as how I'll be heavy I don't want to be speeding up and down to pass people. I'll be setting the cruise on 75 or maybe 78.

That'd be good . . . . aggressive caravaning can be fun for a couple hours, but 20+ hours of driving without being able to use the cruise control = teh SUCK.
I'm crunching some numbers now - figure 9-10 tanks of gas, food, hotel, tolls, etc. - it's looking pretty grim. I'm getting a respectable size tax return this year, but I'm not sure I want to spend it on this. That said, I haven't travelled in far too long . . . .
The Mapquest route through Pittsburgh/Columbus/Indianapolis/St. Louis looks like it's the quickest - but I can't help but notice it seems to be a rather toll-arific route.

Screw that, throw some crap in everyone else's car so we can all do 90+ like on the way back from NPM last year!
On a trip this length, I bet you make better time going 75 than you would 90 . . . . stopping for gas every 400 miles instead of every 250-300 makes a big difference.

If splitting hlf the cost of gas/toll with me will make you going more feasible, lemme know.

I do not need to explain anything to you.
My broken wings still strong enough to cross the ocean with.
My broken wings how far should I go drifting in the wind.
and uh... BTW< I did that same map, philadelphia to Tulsa.. and we pass right through St Louis.
You can rip on me for that one. I put in the wrong state initial TWICE. First it was MI (Michigan) and then MS (Mississippi).
St. Louis actually IS on the way (its in Missouri - or MO) so that is a feasible point to stop over if you want to do that. Sorry about that.
I figure most of the highways in the center of the country are 65-75 mph, so we should be able to make decent time. I do not want to have an agressive caravan (JACKY :-p) because I'm tired of tickets myself.
I will update the list for now and anything else let me know.
I'm driving hehe, but drive is a lot shorter than yall's.
Thanks for the input.

Besides, Eric can your SS even do 90mph? My Z should be able to do 90 in 3rd.
