All the info you need is on the website, just wanted to know if anyone is interested in doing this charity run. It's in NYC on Sunday morning, September 24th. They have it every year. It's a $30 donation, or you can raise min. $100 of donations, in lieu. It's a 5k/[3.1mile] run [or walk].
If I was in shape, I would definitely do this. The other problem is I work the night before until 700 AM. Not sure I want to do a 5K after not exercising in like 6 months and working all night.

Totally understandable...
it's actually a run and/or walk, and I'm as out of shape as they come.
However, working until 7AM the night before, I wouldn't do the run/walk either, so i definitely understand where you're coming from.
Other than a minor run-in with a park bench [keep in mind there were thousands and thousands of people running at once through the brooklyn-battery and then through lower manhattan], I was doing well. Even with the park bench hit, i was able to do the whole thing without 'giving-up' and walking, so I was happy.
And it was a great run, more like an event, I mean, i got to run with, i think 15,000 to 20,000 other people. And running through a tunnel into Manhattan is quite an experience [I even ran through the EZ-Pass lane ], there were 343 firefighters lining the 2nd half wall of the tunnel each with a canvas muriel/picture of each of the 343 firefighters who gave their lives on Sept. 11th. And after the tunnel, there was a Bagpipe band playing, and groups of cheerleaders cheering us on and other bands and stuff at various points along the way. At the end there was food, massages [line was too long, otherwise would have gotten one], speeches by former Mayor Guiliani, Kim Sazie did a musical performance [she did 'Alone' and another song of hers that I don't know], she was really good live by the way... A great time all in all...
Anyway, it's too bad you guys couldn't make it this year, but it was definitely an amazing experience, and I know you guys would enjoy it, definitely come out next year. You can walk it, run it, jog it, or any combination of the above. I'll post some pics once my friend's gf sends them over to me...
Kap, maybe we can come up with a preludeonline.com fundraiser My car club does "The Drive to Survive" for Breast Cancer (which for the 2nd year I cannot make ) It's also a $30 donation, a few hour long jaunt through the Lehigh Valley areas, a silent auction and lots of raffles.. last year the car club raised over $8k...
sure we can't exactly do an event like that, but this could be something fun and every little bit helps

Irene, that's an absolutely great idea... Let's definitely revisit this sometime soon...
