PA / NJ Autocross & PDE Info for 2005

A good number of you have expressed interest in autocrossing, asking me how to get involved and when the next events are. So I am creating this thread to put all the info in one place with links to region SCCA websites and autocross schedules.

Philadelphia Region is holding two novice schools, one on 4/1 & 4/2, the other 4/22 & 4/23. The novice school is a two day format, during day one (which is a friday) you meet from 7:30pm to 10:00pm for classroom instruction. Day two (saturday) is in car driving instruction. The classroom portion is mandatory. On the sunday following each novice school is a real autocross event where you can apply what you learned. The fee is $85, which insn't bad considering what you get. You must sign up online for this. More details can be found on the PhillySCCA.com website. Both novice schools and the next day autocrosses will be held at Ripkin Stadium in Aberdeen, MD.

Most of the 2005 season schedules are finalized and posted. Here are the links:

Philadelphia Region Website - www.phillyscca.com
Philly Region Autocross Schedule - scroll down to Summer Series 2005
We have 14 events spread throughout the summer. Most are at Ripkin Stadium in Aberdeen.

Northern New Jersey Region Website - www.scca-nnjr.org
NNJR Autocross Schedule
13 events all at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ.

Washington DC Region Webiste - www.wdcr-scca.org
WDCR Autocross Schedule
Warning: WDCR events typically fill up fast. You must register and pay in advance online. Most events are at Fed-EX Field.

Nasa Northeast Website - www.nasanortheast.org
Nasa-X Northeast Schedule
National Auto Sports Association (NASA) hold events at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

http://M-club (Motorsports Club) Web...w.themclub.net
The M-club holds autocrosses at Giants Stadium. The # of entrants is usually limited, but you get a long course and lots of runs. Check out the above address for the schedule.

I will be at most of the Philly Region events, inlcuding the 4/3 autocross so long as I can get my car repaired and inspected in time. I may also attend the 4/23 Test -n- Tune, being held along side the novice school the same day. If you have any questions about what class you would fall into, what you need to do to pass tech, what safety equipment you need (just a helmet), or any other misceallanous question feel free to PM me or email me though the site.

Philly Region also has a discussion board where you can register and post questions: www.phillyscca.com/forum.

You may also choose to attend a lapping day or driver's school where you can bring your car out on a road racing track.

Philly Region SCCA will be holding a PDE (Performance Driving Experience) on June 17 & 18 at Pocono. This is SCCA's verion of the HPDE, a successful blend of a lapping day with driving school. Details are on the Philly SCCA website.

NASA Northeast is holding HPDEs (High Performance Driving Experience) at Pocono, Watkins Glen, and Lime Rock Park in CT. Details can be found at http://www.nasanortheast.org/schedule.htm.

NASA Mid-Atlantic holds HPDEs along side most of there road-racing events. The 2005 schedule in on the front page of the website, www.nasaracing.net. They also hold autocross events at Virginia Motorsports Park.

PDA (Performance Driving School) holds drivers schools (HPDEs) and open lapping days all over the northeast at Lime Rock, Pocono, Watkins Glen, and Summit Point (WV). The schelude and details are at http://www.pdadrivingschool.com/schedules/.

If you have questions about any of the above driving schools or HPDEs I can probably answer them too.

- Paul

Nice post. You should get Ray to sticky it.

B-stock here I come! I wish I had the Z sooner. Then I'd be able to get some much needed time behind the wheel before NPM.

Thanks Paul. I may go to the 4/22-23 school. I wanted to autocross with the Prelude but from the way things look the Prelude will be with me for another 3 weeks or so. Scott is not the only one going over to Nissan Land.......

Congrats Carlos.

You might as well hold out and learn on the Nissan from the start. FWD vs RWD autocrossing techniques are quite different.

Thread stuck.
I might try to get in one last event before the Prelude gets all its parts taken off....but I'd be competing on stock RE92's.
Anyone want a co-driver?

Yeah, I know. I remember Andrew saying it took him a whole season to get used to the change. Thats ok though, I'll be driving the car in completely stock form this whole year so that'll be lots of good practice!
