***UPDATED***Aug. 1, 2004
after much discussion... this weekend.. Me.. Paul.. Jeff.. Eric and his girlfriend Pam all met up for the day in Cape May.. we're lounging on the beach and bbq4 comes up... (p.s. sorry Ryan!)
Some change of plans. The church parking lot Eric wanted us to park at has signs saying they will tow ppl away. That means that we would have to probably park at the Lovalete pay lot where we may all fit but probably not together. So here are the new plans:
When: Saturday, August 21st @ 1:00pm.... into the 22nd
Itinerary:
Meet at the rest stop near mile marker 75 of the Garden State Parkway @1pm. The rest stop is accessable from both Northbound and Southbound.
Go to Long Beach Island to chill out, soak up some sun, play...
Cruise back to Eric's house in Toms River. About 20 miles, lots of places to snap some rolling shots or take videos.
Eat and party at Erics.
We will wait for most people to meet up at the rest stop. If you are running late call one of us (our cells are at the bottom of this thread) and we will tell you what beach we are at and how to get there.
We don't know exactly which beach we are going to yet. Dave (98VTEC), can you make some suggestions? Your rents dock there boat down there right?
Directions: From NYC/North Jersey: Get on the GSP southbound, follow to rest stop near milemarker 75. It is just past the Tom's River exits.
From Philly & Harrisburg: Take the PA Turnpike to the NJ Turnpike. Get on NJTP North. Get off at Exit 7 (2 miles). Take Rt 206 South to Rt 70 (about 12 miles). This is a traffic circle. Go around the traffic circle 270 degrees and take Rt 70 east. In about 6 miles there will be another traffic circle. Bear to the 1st right for Rt 72 east. Follow Rt 72 for about 14 miles to the Garden State Parkway. Get on the Parkway Northbound. Follow to rest stop near milemarker 75 (about 12 miles).
From Connecticut: Get on the Merritt Parkway South. Follow to I-287. Get on I-287 West (towards the Tappan Zee). I-287 merges with I-87 North. Follow over the Tappan Zee Bridge. Take exit 17A I-87 for the Garden State Parkway. See drictions from NYC/North Jersey. (make sure to brin plenty of quaters and dimes for the 35 cent tolls (there are many).
Eric's (94accordsedan) address is:
882 Raliegh Drive Toms River NJ 08753
Here is how the food/alcohol will work: everyone brings $10 to contribute to the food/beer.... We will designate Kirill or Scott (maybe even Jacky since there needs to be a run to the beer/liquor stores) to collect the money from everyone and they will go ahead and go get everything for us.
Eating/drinking will commence after the beach/photos/cruise. No one is driving home that is drunk. This is a big rule and so far everyone has been able to follow that rule. There should be enough places to crash but it is suggested you bring things to sleep in/with ( )
You will need to provide yourselves the following:
chairs
tents
things to sleep with (pillows.. blankets.. sleeping bags.. girls )
hard alcohol?
So please thank 94accordsedan (Eric) for his gracious hospitality.
His number is: 732 814 7703
My number is: 610 704 6782
Paul's number is: 267-872-3422

Eric called me last night and told me this. I think considering everything, this is the best option we have. We don't have to have everyone show up 900 in the AM, we can have the beach, there is a place to crash if we drink too much, and its in a decent location for the majority of people (1-2 hr drive from NYC, southern NJ, parts of PA, etc.) so it seems to be a fair distance to most. (Eric told me it is exit 82 off the Garden State Parkway)
I will say one thing; the 2nd BBQ we had last year, the ride there was TORTURE on the NJTP. Everyone is going to be heading south to go to the beaches and such. My suggestion to to head out no later than 1000 AM from a meeting point. I myself may head down early so I don't have to fight the traffic, but if we can get a big enough caravan going, I'll definitely stick around for that.
Now, some questions that need to be answered:
1) Are we BBQ'ing on the beach, at the house, or both?
2) Is alcohol allowed on the beach?
3) What kind of activities would you like to do while at the beach?
4) What is his exact address so we can do a proper Mapquest search?
I'll start a thread regarding attendance of the BBQ. Lets keep this one going for suggestions of what to do, what to bring, etc.
Lastly, BIG thanks to Eric and his family for hosting it! Looking foward to it bigtime.

If you want, come down Friday night before and you can crash at my new apartment in Bayonne. That should get you a little more than halfway. Its only 1 hour, 10 minutes from me in Bayonne. Thats definitely doable.

1) Are we BBQ'ing on the beach, at the house, or both?
at the house.. we may only stay at the beach for 2 or 3 hours... for pics.. some frisbee and such...
2) Is alcohol allowed on the beach?
no beaches in the state of jersey unless it is considered a state park has a no alcohol policy on beachs..
NO
3) What kind of activities would you like to do while at the beach?
sports.. swim.. frisbee.. just a couple of hours for everyone to meet up.....
4) What is his exact address so we can do a proper Mapquest search?
gotta give him a ring about this......
p.s. this is suppose to be the only bbq thread now... that way people state wether they are going.. i update the list.. what people need to bring.. etc

I'm not sure what is happening for that weekend yet. I will keep your suggestion in the back of my head Scott. Thanks!
As far as food suggestions.....everyone should pitch in for food again. First we need a head count, second we need to make sure we have a little more than enough food. From the Mem day bbq....I think we kinda lacked on the food supplies. But people also did continue to arrive as the day wore on.
So.....
1. We need a head count for hte amount of food people are brining.
2. We need a food count. Redundancies in food should be ok....that way we seperate food costs.
