+1. I'm in South Jersey.

I had read only the State can inspect OBD1 vehicles. Private shops can only do the 96+ vehicles now.

That said, NJ recently proposed dropping the mechanical part of the inspection in its entirety. That's right, emissions only. Good news for anyone rolling around with tint on your doors.

Maybe we'll hear more this summer. I read 2 articles and only one of them said depending on how desperate the budget is, it could happen as early as July 1.

^^ just to update, this is now in effect since August 1st. Only emissions.
