BBQ4 discussion....

Edit.. new info as of June 15th:

Date/Time:

21th/22nd (saturday-sunday)
2nd last weekend in august...

Location: North Jersey or South/SouthEast (lower portion) of NY..
possibilities (will drop/add):
Montgomery County, NY park
Bear Mountain, NJ
Watchung Reservation, NJ

i plugged it over in the npm.com discussion forum and well.. things got crazy so lets make a move to figure out a location...

i am not for having it in PA or southern nj.. the majority of the people coming to these events are from ny, north jersey, ct and the above other northeast places.. i am all for having it more in that area b/c you all drive so far all the time for other meets and i think it's time it is in your own backyard....

so now where can we have it?

Scott's place just doens't have the parking...

there are some awesome state parks nearby but that would mean no drinking (though most people only drink to enjoy beer so this may not be a bad thing...) scott would have to tell you then name b/c i forgot
here are pics that paul and i took when scott showed us the area:

behind where the camera was shooting is a golf course... to the left down is a tennis courts...

typical pavillions/bbq grills at other state parks..... the grass is very soft and nice... tons of space.. lots of shade from trees...

any of you northeast guys have any locations we could use.. possibly your home??? we don't require a pool... but nice parking and big backyards would be great!

if is in the queens, bkly, city of NYC. is a no go. reason being we live in the city. there's no room for 20/30 cars parked.. there's a park in queens call cunninham or sumthin we can get a permit there n have a bbq. as for backyard wise i dont think any person's house in nyc is big enough. i dont mine for a fast drive once my car is tune.

^^^ I do not think she ment the city. That would never make any sense. Anyway Irene, I am up for it as long as it is not a weekend I have planned to go to NJ, or a weekend that I have to work on a Saturday.

NE ppl..Nearby I know of a place called the Watchung Reservation. Its HUGE with lots and LOTS of parking space , and land with good spots to grill, and some very nice scenery for pictures. I know of a particular good spot that could fit about 30 cars. Its located in Watchung, NJ if you havent figured that part out yet. There are also restaurants within a few miles like Outback, that i could make reservations to that have big parking areas. The only thing is that our meet wont be totally private. It will be somewhat..i mean the place isnt ever Swamped with people. Just the casual parent bringing their kid to see the pretty view. Also, im pretty sure drinking isnt allowed in the park. Im not sure how important this is to you guys, im sure you could sneak in a beer here and there though. It wouldnt be a smart idea to get too buzzed though , since all of you would be driving home. Unless you want throw up a tent and make it a prelude meet/camping trip . This is just a suggestion, let me know if its a good one

ray mentioned something in another thread where a lot of car people have meets... i gotta look it up..

look to see about 40 people b/c last year we had just about that many...

not far at all from nyc..my guess is TOPS one hour driving from your home in nyc, with the typical traffic. I will investigate if a permit is needed for us , and how to go about getting it.

Oh yea..i forgot about that..DUH . About camping there, Im positive people have camped there before, just a matter of bringing the equiptment needed. This park is really clean, you will not find a spec of litter anywhere. If we do decide to camp here, ill most likely stay, even though my home is 10 minutes away . Also, I can help supply food for this BBQ. I have a freezer full of steaks/sausages that i can bring, along with soda, etc. Last time it seemed like we didnt have enough.

Oh damn.. that would be nice..how many of us were at the Memorial Day BBQ? only 15-20 im guessing. We will definitely need more food then this time around

^^ we had more than enough at bbq2 b/c people brought food AND booze....

as soon as we figure out where and when.... i'll make sure to be able to let people know how much we need.. you guys eat a lot!!!!!! i'm content with like a burger and 2 hot dogs through out a whole day as long as there are good snacks and drinks..... but i know some people eat more than that..

manny.. sounds like a good place.. pretty central location as well... find out more details for us!

Not sure if it is planned to be a big event but Luke had mentioned about an event that a few of us were at last year in CT. They are going to do it again but it is July I think. He has specifics I think on it. It's mostly a bimmer meet but the Prelude guys were welcomed as well. It was a good time too.

^^^hey, yeah that meet was fun.... I wanna go for a drive on those roads again now that I got some suspension work done.

As far as food for the BBQ goes I'm gonna look at getting a BJ's club membership so we can buy in bulk

It doesn't matter what Ray says since he is a no show at any event. You could even plan the meet at his house and he still wouldn't be there
