I suspect something in the H22A's design makes it susceptible to detonation.. NOS is cold enough so a small shot isn't an issue if the gas is there.
There are one or two blown NOS engines, but that wasn't on 50hp shots. I don't know anyone who's messed an engine on a 50hp shot (due to detonation or melted valves). It would be possible with operator error or component failure, I guess, but unlikely.

even though i am not FI i do have a mod that can blow your motor just as easily as going FI....but i have to say tht you are correct when you said that it is one of the most reliable form of power adders.... i have been running nitrous for about 2 years and not one problem from it yet.(well i had fuel solenoid that wouldnt close and was running very rich) but other than that nothing.
First i had it on my 4th gen H23 and i was running just about 3/4 a bottle a week on a 5o shot....thats a lot of spraying...but i check my compression all the time and not one drop in PSI,
Now i have it on my 5th gen, i have had it for about a week now, check pugs-clean,and my compression and not a drop in that either. But i expect the same thing from my last setup, everything is the same, from the kit(NX wet), to where the nozzle is mounted.
and it runs just as strong, getting just about what the jetting is to the wheels....closer,or more if its a wet...
But no matter what....we just dont get the glory of having a turbod/SC car....you get the looks and everything else that comes with it
