For an odd hesitation at a certain RPM or range, that goes away at a higher RPM, I'd be looking at the O2, MAP, or a/f mapping (if you have an AFC) for the problem- not the distributor.

This is assuming you have good plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. I wouldn't troubleshoot the dizzy before those.
