Rough the surface PROPERLY and make sure to use a Rustoleum enamel paint. Don't get anything that claims to be a plastic paint. That stuff sticks well but will scuff up and fog up within a few days.
With rustoleum you'll have to leave the remote hanging somewhere for about 5 days for the enamel to fully cure though.
