yo yo check it, I had a similar problem. I chipped the rest away, Then cut with a razor to expose under the paint/plastic coating of the stripping. Clean the metal and brush some rust off.(Its ok if its not all gone) Then I taped off both sides to not get paint on the car. And I just put a few coats of black spray on it, I think it was a spray paint used for metals.
It looked good after. Cheap and quick fix. Lol replace it. Thats dumb Youre gonna take the whole glass out and then re-install with only one new strip. Its better not to mess with seals because sometimes they leak.
