If the amp hasn't gone into thermal protection yet, don't worry about it. Being that it is an alpine, I'm sure it must have an overload circuit built in and it will just turn itself off if it gets to hot so it doesn't destroy itself. However the 2ohm speakers will make it get hotter than 4ohms speakers would, if that is what was in there before.

Gas shocks like the ones in that write-up work great, and now I can use my trunk again. No more trunk lid falling on my head (I can assure you, that damn thing hurts like hell when you knock the prop-up board out ).
