Fire.
Well, today I made a bit of a boo-boo.
I had a 16 gauge wire, running from IGN1, to the center of the back seat; which I used as a feed for a few things- relay that turns my power inverter on, power source for my laptop, remoted laptop power button thingie, etc.. I didn't have this wire fused; as it was just a temporary solution; until I re-routed the original sound system wire, to take its place...
While I was working on the wiring; it grounded out at the back of the center console, from being pulled against a metal bracket. And, being that the wiring was steel, instead of copper; it turned the entire wire into a poorly placed heating element, once I started the car.
To make a long story; I ended up with a channel burnt, across every wiring harness, every piece of plastic, and every place that the wire touched; grounding out other wires; supplying power to the wrong ones; etc..
So, now, at the end of the day; the PGMFI main relay is melted; abs relay is melted; SRS wiring harness is melted, cruise control box is melted, immobilizer box is melted, passenger side air bag deployed, and the car smells like I had a camp fire in it.
Learning Point: IGN1 is not fused. It is relayed directly off of the battery. Do not tap it, without a fuse!
So, it looks like I finally get to make use of all of the harnesses and parts that I pulled out of the BB8 when I had it =(
