Got mine in my trunk for long trips etc. But if he has long drives on high way or heavy rock chipping issues I can see why he keeps it on. Just be sure to take it off every week or so and clean etc. Help keep dirt from getting under it and in turn scratching.

Cheap? Its OEM bra? not exactly cheap. Looks good on mine when I go for trips.
