A good buddy of mine has owned VWs for years and we were talking about how he wants to put together a turbo setup (which I am also casually thinking about), and the topic of head spacers came up. After he showed me some stuff and after I researched it a little it looks like the VW guys have been using them to lower their CR with good results for a while. I understand that a lot of VWs have iron blocks and other advantages, but I don't see why this couldn't work up to a certain point on the H22a4. They're not like an inch thick or anything, maybe .020" or .030", which seems reasonably sane and could give you at least a little bit lower CR. I can't really find anything on this or any other forums, so I wanted to pick anyone's brain who might have had some experience with 'em. Hope this starts a good thread.
