On a stock H22 block, you can run a crap ton of boost. Guys are running in the 10's on stock H22 internals. If you master your tune, run good software and stay on top of the motor, you can run a ridiculous setup on the stock H block. Granted, you have to beef up the tranny, and learn how to tune the stock compression pistons; but let's be honest - 10 or 11 to 1 is begging for a super or turbo charger. The reason people generally say you can't run high boost on the stock engine is because there are a lot more crappy tuners out there than there are good ones.
I have seen several well-tuned cars running 7+ psi break ring lands. In my mind, it's just a matter of time on stock pistons. My personal observation is that it takes about a year of daily driving for them to break.
