I painted my rims a couple times. I just sanded it with 40, 80, and 120 grit sandpaper. Then I placed playing cards inbetween the rims and the tires so that I wouldn't have to take off the tires. Then just spray around the rims evenly and be sure not to ever hold the can still while you're spraying to keep it all even. You can spray a top coat on it to finish, but I didn't bother. It looked fine without it. Here are some pictures of it. The first time I did it I made them white. Now they're gold. I think they look good.
