I've painted my SH wheels with spray can and they've held up pretty nicely for over a year now. The painting process is easy and the basically the same as painting any bodywork (there's a FAQ topic about painting sideskirts that goes into the details of sanding, primer, base coat, clear coat, drying time, etc). Just make sure you strip off any old paint first (using aircraft paint stripper/steel wool/sandpaper) and get down to bare metal before you start painting.
