Yes fiberglass needs to be primered. And you have to sand and scuff underneath the primer. Then once the primer is sanded smooth it needs to be scuffed too before it is sealed, and painted and cleared all in the same session. If you do not sand and scuff underneath the primer and sealer, your paint will not stick well.

Even though my kit came with a fiberglass sealer on it, i primered over it and did all the steps above and it has not shown any problems.

Did you ask the shop to do any prep work or did you just tell them to spray it. cause they will only do what you tell them to do.
