I don't think removing the cat gives that much of a benefit unless you've got an engine built for racing that needs to get rid of exhaust. Prelude cats are quite far down the exhaust so they aren't as restrictive (they don't stop hot air) and have hot air pushing cooler stuff through the cat. The converter can become a problem in a high boost turbo car if it narrows the exhaust, and if it's placed too early in the exhaust stream.
Oh, and your car will STINK without a cat. You may gain some high midrange and top end, but I doubt it's worth the stink, nevermind the sound, the cops or even your environmentally-friendly conscience :P
