Brake light stays on if you release e-brake too quick...

Well.. it seems as when I'm heading to school in the cold morning that the brake light icon on the gauge cluster stays on if I release the e-brake too quick. I started up the car, and released it once it was started up. It stays on the whole time, and the e-brake is completely down. I even stopped one time and pulled the e-brake up and put it back down. You would see the light on the gauge cluster light up even more! Ok, so the next day, I started it up..put it into neutral then waited a couple of seconds, put the e-brake down, and the light goes away. I'm guessing something is up with the sensor?

On a side note.. it freaked out my mom from driving my car when she saw it. I told her just do what I did by putting into neutral for a couple of seconds. But she chose to drive her car instead
