Shift Lock/Reverse Lock Mechanism Problem With Solution

OK this post is for anyone else who may get this problem in their 5th gen SS prelude and searches for the answer.

PROBLEM: When the brake pedal is depressed, the shift lock/reverse lock mechanism fails and the shift lever cannot be moved from the PARK position. The shift lever cannot be moved from Neutral to Reverse either.

(When this happened to me other things happened too. My radio, foglights, and cig lighter quit working)

CAUSE: Overload on circuit.

SOLUTION: Replace Fuse#18, Capacity 7.5 A, Wire Color Yellow/Red. This fuse is under the dash! It is not in the engine fuse box. This fuse controls the Accessory Socket Relay, and the Shift Lock Soleniod.

The real problem is a short somewhere in your wiring. Use your helms to check your wiring. Good luck.

This problem is a great way for you to freak thinking that your SS is going out.
