If you have a cracked wheel from just normal street driving, your wheel is defective!

As in ibanezeros' case, wheel manufacturers will normally be very cooperative and go way out of their way to replace defective wheels. There are 3 main reasons:
1) It's a huge safety issue. If that wheel completely fails while you are driving on it, you have a nice civil case against them. And if it fails and you and/or someone else got injured as a result? Look out! The manufactuer will be paying out the nose!
2) It's a PR issue. You tell all your friends and post online about how your wheel made by Company XXX cracked in normal wear and tear, and the people will start to generate a negative opinion about the quality of Company XXX's products
3) It's a U.S. DOT issue. Wheels sold in the US are supposed to be certified by the U.S. DOT to comply with basic strength and structual integrity tests. If the DOT gets enough letters from people whose Rota wheels have cracked, they will investigate and probably force Rota to cease all US sales until Rota can prove that the manufacturing and design problems have been solved. They may even force Rota to recall thousands of sets of wheels. They could literally put Rota out of business...

So it's always in the manufactuer's best interest to go out of their way to resolve the issue with you when you have a defective wheel. But if your wheels are "grey market" imports, they may not be as willing to do anything for you...
