I took my testpipe off for the following reasons:

1) extremely loud (VTEC sounded amazing though)
2) made the car vibrate at idle
3) lots of black soot on the bumper
4) loss of low end torque

With the cat back on, my exhaust system sounds smooth and deep (improvement), idles without vibration, and my back bumper doesn't get as dirty. However I do have a lower top speed (about 150 mph versus more than 150), slightly worse gas mileage, and a lot less peak horsepower. I do appreciate the extra torque though, driving around town is much more enjoyable.

It's up to you, if you like to race then you'll want the testpipe. If the car is your daily driver with occasional street racing then it's probably not worth it.
