Vehicle Speed Sensor / Transmission Question. (ryuryu?)
Ok,
I've got a 1998 Honda Prelude with a SS Auto transmission.
(I ***** about it enough, so I'm sure most of you know this.)
Anyway,
About 3 months ago the tranny started to hard shift from 3rd to 4th gear.
The odd thing is that it only hard shifts when I'm at WOT or 3/4 throttle doing about 5300+ RPM's in 3rd gear.
I've noticed on my tachometer that the RPM's have a tendancy to jump (or slip) upward when I'm hauling ass.
The transmission does not appear to be slipping though...
It got me to thinking:
The transmission is an electronically controlled beastie.
If the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) was defective [had an intermittant problem at higher RPM's], might it cause a problem with the shifting of the transmission?
As I said, if I shift at 5500RPM from 3rd to 4th, but take my foot off the gas just before, the transmission shifts fine.
Any thoughts on this would be REALLY appricated.
Gerhard
