I always wondered why I lose oil. I posted on these boards about it and some say its normal and some say they have not lost any oil in between oil changes.
So I decided to keep track of it the last 2 oil changes I have had.
The last time I checked my oil it was below the first dot in the dip stick after 1.5k miles, which made me wonder where my oil was going. So before I did the next oil change, I checked the oil level, it was right where it was when I last checked at 1.5k miles. So I didnt lose any oil inbetween.
It says we need 5.1 quarts of oil in the engine. So I normally put in 5 quarts. Well I did my oil change 2 days ago and I decided to check my oil level today. To my surprise the oil was in the first dot. When I put in the 5 quarts 2 days ago it was at the second dot. So I can only assume that most of what was missing went into the oil filter.
So I can say, that I never lost any oil, I just forgot to take into account the oil filter whenever Im doing my oil changes. Now I can sleep better not wondering why my engine kept eating oil
